The last few months have been busy for everyone at Scott Physiotherapy.  Isla has entered the research phase of her MSc having completed seemingly endless essays for the last 2 years.  The research involves cycling and uses some of the cutting edge equipment at the Isle of Man Institute of Sport.  The beginning of 2010 sees Isla attending a week long course at Bath University, aimed at improving clinical skills particularly for elite athletes.  As with last year motorsport features highly in the calendar for 2010 with trips to both the British Superbikes and World Superbikes planned, in addition to the time given freely for the TT competitors during practice and race week.  Isla has developed a strong reputation in this field and regularly works with some of the world’s best motorcycle riders.

Paul continues as Director for the IOMFA Development Centre. The Centre provides coaching for 180 boys and girls from U10-U16 who have been selected as the most talented footballers in their age groups. His role involves planning the coaching strategy and direction of the Development Centre in the short, medium and long term as well as managing the 25+ coaches who work with the players to ensure that the level of coaching is the highest standard possible.  The skills gained in this post have proved to be highly beneficial in improving athletes’ movement patterns and aiding injury prevention.  Paul starts an MSc in Strength and Conditioning early in 2010, which will provide specialist knowledge in this key area of rehabilitation and athlete development.

We have been delighted that, Physiotherapist, Cath Davis has joined the team bring with her a wealth of orthopaedic experience and boundless enthusiasm.  She is offering evening clinics in Peel, which are proving very popular.

Isla is travelling to Delhi in October 2010 for the Commonwealth Games and is involved in the preparations of the squad.  This will be her 3rd Commonwealth Games, alongside the Athens Olympics and Commonwealth Youth Games in India in 2008.

The team at Scott Physiotherapy continue to have lower limb surgeons Mr Robert Harvey FRCS and Martyn Porter FRCS coming over to the Island on a regular basis to conduct clinics at our premises; Mr Harvey in Douglas and Mr Porter in Peel. This saves patients the expense and inconvenience of travelling to North West England for a consultation.

Scott Physiotherapy continues to support Andrew Pitt, Steve Colley, Alex Hedges and Dave Molyneux with sponsorship. The clinic remains firm in its support of Western Athletic Club by sponsoring the Dave Phillips road race series for another year.
